Scientists testing the air in Barcelona and Madrid found cocaine, heroin, and cannabis.


A study has found the air in Madrid and Barcelona is laced with large amounts of drugs - most prominently cocaine.

Other illegal substances found were amphetamines, heroin, cannabis and LSD.

The study showed higher concentrations of the components on weekends, suggesting that drug consumption was up in these periods.

A similar study in Italy found a maximum concentration of only 100 picograms per cubic metre in Rome, far less than in Spain.
