Google rents goats to trim the grass at their Mountain View headquarters.


Google’s Mountain View headquarters has some fields that need mowing occasionally to clear weeds and brush to reduce fire hazard.

Instead of using noisy mowers that run on gasoline and pollute the air, they rented some goats to do the job

A herder brings about 200 goats and they spend roughly a week at Google, eating the grass and fertilizing at the same time.

Jen, a border collie, keeps them from wandering off. The cost is about the same as mowing.
