Cutting grass releases stress relieving chemicals which act directly on the hippocampus and amygdala.


Queens University researchers showed that when grass and green leaves are cut at least five chemicals containing stress-relieving properties are released.

The aroma of cut grass works directly on the brain, in particular the the amygdala and the hippocampus.

They are responsible for the flight or fight response and the endocrine system, which controls the releasing of stress hormones like corticosteroids.
