Female ferrets in heat can die if they do not mate.
Pet ferrets must be spayed or neutered.
Female ferrets that are not spayed will die unless they are breeders who are constantly mated.
Female ferrets go into heat just like cats and dogs, however, they stay in heat during the entire mating season rather than going in and out of heat.
Because of that, the hormone levels can and will cause them to get certain illnesses and die if they are not mated constantly with a male ferret.
