The Spanish region of Extremadura have launched a major programme to encourage what could be described as a more hands-on approach to sexuality.
The classes aimed at adolescents, called ‘El placer está en tus manos’ (The pleasure is in your hands), received widespread press coverage at their launch, and the right wing association considered that they incited self-abuse or onanism, and amounted to corruption of minors and the mis-use of public funds.
The campaign includes leaflets, flyers, a fanzine and workshops for the young in which they receive instruction on self-pleasuring techniques along with advice on contraception and self-respect.
